My menu

I keep getting people asking me what cupcake flavors I make.  I usually tell them that whatever they can think of, I can make.  Well, here's a list.  I can still make whatever anyone can think of in addition to these flavors.  Just ask.  If there's something that sounds good to you, I can probably transform it into a cake. :-)

Say cheesecake!!!

My friends and I were brainstorming new yummy cupcake flavors one day.  I got all kinds of crazy ideas from gummy bears to meatloaf.  Eww, meatloaf and cupcakes do not sound like a yummy combo.  They did have a few gems, though, like tiramisu, key lime pie and today's experiment: cheesecake.  One idea for the cheesecake cupcake was to top it with cherry pie filling, but I'm not a huge fan of opening a can and plopping cherries on top of my little creations.  So, as an alternative, I've taken one of my favorite desserts, apple crunch pie, and married it with a cheesecake cupcake, giving me cinnamon apple cheesecakes as the result.  They're in the oven now and they smell heavenly.  I'm a little nervous, though, because I think they may overflow their paper cups and become little cinnamon flavored disasters.  Ooh 2 minutes left....fingers crossed.  One minute!  They're done.  Hmm, mixed feelings on these.  They did outgrow their cups completely, but they look delicious.  I had to try one and they also taste delicious.  The cheesecake isn't very prominent, though.  So, I'm renaming these as apple pie cupcakes.  The cinnamon in the cake goes super well with the sweetness of the apples and the extra crunch on top is the perfect end.

New flavor

So, today is my 8th year wedding anniversary.  How did my husband and I celebrate this accomplishment?  Did we go out for a fancy dinner?  Nope.  Did we exchange fancy gifts?  Nope.  (Only because they haven't arrived in the mail yet.)  Instead, he spent the day cooking a pork shoulder which turned out deliciously, and I baked cupcakes.  It was a tasty way to spend the day, and the oven did a wonderful job of warming up the house.  Fifty degrees in October!  I refuse to turn the furnace on.  Anyway, the flavor of the day was pumpkin spice with an orange glaze.  I thought the flavor was appropriate for the season.  I've heard a lot of people talking about the local doughnut shops selling glazed pumpkin doughnuts. I knew they would translate well into a cupcake, especially after last week's apple spice.  I started with a yellow cake and added canned pumpkin.  They're spiced up with cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg.  The glaze was made with fresh squeezed orange juice and had the zest mixed in to give it that super orangy flavor. They filled the house with a spicy aroma and tasted like pumpkin pie when they were all done. These little cakes tasted like fall.

I'm working on a few new flavors, but I always love suggestions.  If anyone ever has any, feel free to share.  You may get the first taste!
